About the Artist Originals Collages Prints Home

I am passionate about my art and create each piece with that passion no matter how large or small. Each piece of my art begins with my idea. I plan the stages of the project using the elements of art and design. As I work, the art takes on a life of it’s own incorporating line, shape, color, and textures.

I love using bright, happy tropical colors when creating my paintings and want people to feel happy when viewing them. Using color is extremely important to me. Creating art has always been part of my life since the fourth grade and I enjoy being involved with all types of art including watercolors and collages. I love my paintings and collages, but I am even more excited about the whole creative process and the way it makes me feel when I create a work of art. I also love to learn new ideas and techniques and bring them into my art making each one unique. My hope is that you can enjoy my paintings as much as I love to create them.

I was raised in Madison, Wisconsin and art has been apart of me my entire life. I attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh to learn how to share my art passion with others and graduated with a degree in Art Education. I have enjoyed teaching art to K-12 students in Madison Wisconsin, Burnsville Minnesota, and Charlotte North Carolina. While in Charlotte, I was honored to be named the North Carolina “Middle School Art Teacher of the Year” in 1998-1999.

I moved to Myrtle Beach in 2000 with my husband Dick. Shortly after moving to the beach I became involved in the children’s after school art enrichment program at Union Elementary School located in Brunswick County, NC and taught numerous children’s art classes for several years. Currently, I teach adult watercolor classes at Sunset River Market Place located in Calabash, NC and have much more time for my own art. If you live nearby please come join us.

I am an active member of Waterways Art Association (past vice-president), the Brunswick Art Council, South Carolina Watermedia Society, Horry Arts and Cultural Council, and the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild.

I also attend the Springmaid Beach Watermedia Program held in MyrtleBeach, SC.

I have won numerous purchase, merit and honorable mention awards, as well as 1st place at local art shows.

My painting “Jazz Notes” was the featured art on the cover of Coast Magazine in April, 2005 as well as a summer art show at Collector’s Café in Myrtle Beach, SC. along with other local artists. My “ Red Hot Peppers” watercolor was juried into the National Art Show at Franklin Square Gallery in Southport, NC for the month of July, 2006. Most recently, my “In The Pink” collage was juried into the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild held at the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum located in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I have taken numerous art classes and workshops with many well known artists including:

  • Collage artists, Polly Hammett, Mary Alice Brockman, and Gerald Brommer.
